Richard Costello, MCIPP
Director
Richard began his payroll career at the young age of 14, building over a decade of experience in the payroll sector and becoming a Member of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals. Over the years, Richard gained valuable insights into what businesses and individuals are looking for in a payroll provider, which inspired him to start Apt Payroll Services in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. He advises on all aspects of payroll, and clients regularly praise his practical advice and expertise.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys gaming and board game design. He has recently started building a local community around Trench Crusade - when he can find the time to finish painting his yeomen!
Michael Archibald, ACIPP
Payroll Administrator
Michael is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals and joined Apt at the end of 2025, bringing over two years of payroll experience and a Level 3 IPP qualification. As a Payroll Administrator, he manages the day-to-day payroll needs of clients, ensuring their teams are paid accurately and on time.
Outside of payroll, Michael plays as a winger for the Evercreech Rovers. He is a loyal Manchester United supporter, but tends to find more success in Fantasy Premier League. Michael’s main claim to fame is appearing as a 6-foot-1 centre-back for Yeovil in the Football Manager series.
